I would also suggest that it carries advertising, but the ABC's purists would likely reject that.

There might be a case for a single and separately managed ABC Free-to-Air channel to be retained for "its continued good work for regional Australia" [if that is true).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14457232127152238.post-88317347163035459872011-07-28T08:00:16.980+10:002011-07-28T08:00:16.980+10:00Defund and dismantle. The only main artistic differences between 'Crownies' and shows like 'GP' (c.1989) and 'Twenty Good Years (c.1979) are the self consciously 'edgy' sex scenes and the replacement of the stock 'oppressed Aboriginal' with the stock 'oppressed Moslem'.

.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14457232127152238.post-72400154342608898922011-07-27T03:04:22.872+10:002011-07-27T03:04:22.872+10:00Q&A wasn't always the left-wing circle jer...Q&A wasn't always the left-wing circle jerk it is now. Have a look at some of their archived shows from the first season and compare them to last night's abomination (or any other recent episode).

When the show started in 2008, Tony Jones was more of a moderator than an overly-opinionated cheerleader. The crowd was more civil and didn't launch into riotous jeers and boos whenever something was said that disturbed the echo chamber that the lefties now feel entitled to. The questions were, dare I say it, more balanced (note: more balanced doesn't mean actually balanced, it's still the ABC we're talking about).

It's sad that Q&A has descended into what it is now.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14457232127152238.post-42107372708749070682011-07-26T20:25:17.649+10:002011-07-26T20:25:17.649+10:00I too think the situation at 'their' ABC i...I too think the situation at 'their' ABC is irredeemable.

When Obama's is prised from Office Jan 2013, PBS/NPR will probably be completely federally defunded without much public resistance but Abbott will have by far a more difficult, if similar task here.

Apart from its continued good work for regional Australia it has nothing left to commend it as this wonderful professorial post has demonstrated.

I can't know but I suspect that with the 'net, more and more people can at least see their leftist editorialising disguised as thoughtful 'serious' journalism for what it truly is.

Their climate alarmist proselytising has made their activism all the more stark.

But unfortunately not enough for Abbott to privatise it which is the only remedy that could correct the rotten leftist sanctimony positively grafted in to the culture there.JimboKnoreply@blogger.com
