My father told me of the very good Sands brothers in the ‘40s, for whom he turned up for the same reason.

The only indifference was towards Rocky Gattellari, for being “a loudmouth Itie”, but only when we all took a position between the two! Look how much my irretrievably racist generation admires Rocky though.

But that was before they re-wrote history and hijacked sport to do it.

What I have seen the “know nothings” say on what Rose represented is offensive - I feel really sad for Lionel Rose’ passing for the joy that he brought me and the peaceful man that he is. It’s no different to my feeling when Peter Brock died. Aborginal has and had nothing to do with it.Mick Gold Coast QLDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12448847295409200860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14457232127152238.post-68113699789695522082011-05-17T22:37:48.650+10:002011-05-17T22:37:48.650+10:00Ave atque vale frater.

When I was a kiddie many of my mates idolized Rose and followed his example by joining the local boxing club to learn to how fight and more importantly when to.Mark Boltonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04345647263994713620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14457232127152238.post-90450986120571472412011-05-17T16:41:23.328+10:002011-05-17T16:41:23.328+10:00Just Nice!Just Nice!isumbrasnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14457232127152238.post-61379732005757868852011-05-17T15:02:55.667+10:002011-05-17T15:02:55.667+10:00I enjoyed both the post and the article linked to....I enjoyed both the post and the article linked to. Strange though, an article at the SMH about an indegenous Australian only attracting two comments. Where were the usual sorts? I wonder if Mr. Rose is the 'wrong sort of Aborigine' perhaps, for these types in that he was genuine in both his achievements and in his heritage?
