Vale Dame Elisabeth

AUSTRALIA is the poorer today for the death at 103 of Dame Elisabeth Murdoch, who not only gave Rupert to the world but donated many fine and enduring gifts to Melbourne. What a clean smell she leaves behind.

  2. Yeah ... but, according to the ABC, she did spawn the devil.

    1. Bruce Guthrie certainly used her death as a way to critique his ex-boss.

Even John Faine might have shown more class - well possibly.

  3. Professor, can you set aside a special section in "Comments" to cater for the avalanche of tributes, which will most certainly come from feminists, in praise of such an exceptional woman.

One of the better Elizabeths, Prof, even though a little bit of a warmenista in the latter years I believe. Hope I am still riding around a farm on a golf buggy in my nineties. A long way off, but I am a forward-looking girl with an eye to the future at all times. Dame Elizabeth set a fine pace for us all, I wot.

  6. Thank you for telling us. A shame it has ended, her great life - a giant in her quietness.
