YES, Speaker Peter Slipper gained a brownie point or two by cutting off our PM's microphone when the lies ran out and bellicose obfuscation would not suffice.
But the man who is not safe in taxis remains a sleaze.
Watch the video at this link and observe how quickly Mr Speaker ends this press conference when the subject of his expenses is raised. Less than a second and he is gone, gone, gone.
After that, one of the Midnight Rambler's staffers flings the reporter's phone into the scrub.
Reading Peter Slipper's Facebook page today he writes:
ReplyDelete"I was surprised when I was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives to be given keys to both Old Parliament House and the current Parliament House. Haven't tried them though!"
Oh-oh! My first thought was how many taxi fares slippery Pete will be taking between both houses to wander around the corridors at night dressed in splendour while the taxi waits outside?

Good to see that some reporters are actually doing their job!
ReplyDeleteCould've been worse. The Speaker has access to a dandy Mace with which to dong pesky reporters.
ReplyDeleteAn iPhone in the hand is worth two in the bush, Prof.
ReplyDeleteAs I've said, I don't believe in wasting the opportunity to create a personal vocabulary from spare-part words. Today's mystery 'Robot Word' is Tesersom (couldn't read the other one, thus I have to submit this comment with a second take, so why not re-use the one readable word?). Prof, this wobbly script designed for intellects greater than digitised ones is really very Tesersom.
