Can't Trust Them In The Dark

DONNA LaFRAMBOISE takes a look at Fairfax's interest in Earth Hour and raises a question so obvious only Silly readers editor Judith Prisk and the paper's deputy editor Mark Coultan could overlook it.
I think this raises a serious ethical concern. One would have to be utterly naive to imagine that the journalists employed by Fairfax Media are free to say negative things about Earth Hour – or about environmentalism in general. Yet Australia’s recent Independent Inquiry into the Media and Media Regulation report makes no mention whatsoever of Earth Hour in its 474 pages.
No chance of a harsh word from the Silly's  Catastropharian in Chief Ben Cubby, who must had a lovely time applauding his intellectual equals. A word of warning, Ben. With Fairfax's finances in such terrible shape, don't speak too highly of the 16-year-old winners. They might make very cheap replacements.

Don't forget to download a copy of Ms Framboise's terrific little book, The Delinquent Teenager Who Was Mistaken for the World's Top Climate Expert.

They might "fink", but they don't know much.

*It's normal for a scientist to exercise skeptism.

  3. Not sure if you've seen this terrific presentation by Donna Laframboise into the IPCC and the sort of people that write their "peer review" science Professor but she really shreds their credibility with fine cool detached precision. The sort of skill not seen in Fairfax where "journalists" act as stenographers. I hope anyone who calls themselves a journalist or has ambitions to become one - take a look at this You tube clip and see how its done.

  4. Professor,

Would you know if there is any basis of truth in the rumour that Gina intends to parachute Lord Monckton into Cubby's job at Fairfax?

    That would shake things up.

  5. The paragraph following the one highlighted above also has a powerful message:
"Arguably, therefore, people who participate in this annual lights-out ritual are demonstrating their support for corporate-orchestrated environmentalism. They’re also saying it’s OK for media companies to stage-manage the news rather than merely report on it."

  6. Donna Laframboise is a Godess, why can't we produce such people in Australia? Where is her shrine? I would crawl there on hand and knee.

Also, compare Harper with Gillard; I hang my head in shame. Poor fella my country.

I think people are waking up though, Prof. Looking out over the harbour city tonight, I think there were more lights blazing out during Earth Hour than I could see just now. What a piece of fabricated nonsense this ritualised stunt is, with the Fairfax dollar on it.

  8. Sorry to blow you the raspberry, Prof, but she's Laframbroise, not la Frambroise.

I found this site criticizing Laframboise book and could not believe me eyes when I read the start of the rant and the bimbo airhead clearly stated
"After I calmed down, I decided that the best way to cope with the idiocy in this article with my strong feelings about the article was to write this little letter to her. I will have to say two things up front. First, I didn’t read the book ..."
That seems to be the level of intelligence applied to any contrary argument by the left.

  9. Donna Laframboise's book is terrific, and thanks to Anonymous above for the link to the presentation she gave on it. I have saved it to my thumb drive and will give it to a few people I know this week who won't / can't be bothered to read the book.

I decided to 'celebrate' Earth Hour this year by ignoring it. Not a lot of darkened windows or candles where I live (Western Sydney).

  10. The Opera House candle display would have generated vastly more CO2 emissions than were saved by turning off the Opera House lights. We are looking at field of paraffin wax burning, paraffin wax that was made into candles in somewhere like China using heat generated by coal-fired power stations and shipped all the way to Sydney Australia to set ablaze in the open air. These people are environmental vandals!!

  11. Anyone know what Mark Day was getting at in his Australian piece today? I can't afford the subscription.

    1. He ruled out the possibility of Gina Rinehart taking a seat on the Fairfax board on the grounds that she represented a threat to the journalistic doctrine of confidentiality of sources. (You can read the whole thing by googling the headline)
