ON 3AW at the moment:
Neil Mitchell: The circulation of your papers has dropped dramatically. How much does the content of your papers have to do with that drop?
Greg Hywood, Fairfax CEO: Absolutely nothing!

Well that's what you call insane , so Hywood thinks content plays no part ! Off with his head Gina .
ReplyDeleteheh heh. it seems the tall timber wants to claim the Fairfax disaster is entirely due to the incompetence of management and not acknowledge the enormous contribution of green socialist stupidity.
DeleteEither way, its a plea for dismissal
He thinks his devoted readers all went online. When the paywall goes up he'll find out how many are devoted.
DeletePedro of Adelaide
Pedro: You do not know how right you are. They, the 'devoted readers" went on line because while interested in what "the enemy is doing" they did not want to pay even cents for the content and into the farfax coffers. Even the circulation of the prinyed edition was boosted by freebies and giveaways, esepcailly at tertiary insitutions. Predictability in support of the progressive leftist agenda was its hall mark, and not just in the opinion pages. The latter pages I call, "feeding the chooks" or "rubbing the pupies tummies" pages.
DeleteAnother proud graduate of the Mark Scott School of Ophthalmology.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how Fairfax have this denial problem. Anyone picking up say the weekend edition of the SMH can see how it's aimed at a politically-correct inner-city crowd who just want their opinions confirmed.
ReplyDeleteAt least the Oz gives some variety.
Similar interview with Stuart Bocking on 2UE at about 10.30 this morning. When asked if he took a close interest in FXJ and it's share market travails he paused then answered with an unqualified NO.
ReplyDeleteThats grounds for a sacking by a share holder vote. His responsibility alone is to the share holders the fact that he made those comments makes him unfit to be a Director of a Company.
DeleteHe must live in a universe quite divorced from the one I reside in. Very often The Silly is just that, plain silly.
ReplyDeleteHe might be right, but how would he know?
ReplyDeleteI object to being called a 'nothing.' I ditched The Phage years ago, because of its jaundiced views, its wall to wall feminism, and its inability to seriously entertain any discussion opposed to the straitjacket Leftism permeating everything from the heights of editorial down to the comic strips. Who could forget that appalling series of PC cartoons, "For Better or Worse?" The Phage used to piss me off "ABSOLUTELY."
ReplyDeleteThe same answer would apply if he was asked what Fairfax was good for,
ReplyDeleteThere's your problem ... right there.
ReplyDeleteThe Irish Lion
Well, the content of the Left's political beliefs have "absolutely nothing" to do with their consequences, so this seems about right.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he thinks 'content' means word-count. Either that, or he's swimming deep in De Nile.
ReplyDeleteA former Fairfax employee opines over the tribulations occurring at the SMH:
ReplyDelete"Yes and it's partly the readers fault for not paying to read the paper online. Subscribe now and hopefully avoid the spectre of Gina Rinehart taking control of news in OZ! Rupert Murdoch is bad enough but now Gina as well is just too much".
When will the Left stop kidding themselves.
ReplyDeleteCan I have some of whatever he's taking?
ReplyDeleteNo sweat, they have just decided to bring back another blinkered leftie, from exile in NZ,as editor in chief.
ReplyDeleteBye, bye, Failfax!
That is a very blunt and to-the-point resignation letter. Toodle-oo, clown. Not even Gary Linnell can save yooou aaaass.
ReplyDeleteThat's right, nothing. Otherwise I 'm for the chop too.
ReplyDeleteStick it to them Gina, sell!!
Delusional, quite delusional....
ReplyDeleteContent ! Huh Good God y'all
ReplyDeleteWhat is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Say it again.....
Rusted-on Silly readers have been in denial for years. What the rest of the newspaper-reading public saw as agenda and bias they saw as 'independent journalism, quite unlike that Murdoch-mandated drivel published in the Daily Terror'.
ReplyDeleteAnd Hywood was happy to enable them...
It would be poetic justice for Gina to toss the shares and begin the Fairfax spiral into obscurity. It has been on borrowed time for long enough. Even reality has no impact on their inherent stupidity. They do not deserve to exist with that attitude.
ReplyDeleteThe phage has completed it's full circle.
In another industry ....
ReplyDelete"The sales revenue for your products has dropped dramatically. How much does the quality of your products have to do with that drop?"
"Absolutely nothing!"
Delusional .....
With that attitude, good luck to them.
ReplyDeleteToday Fairfax, tomorrow Aunty and aren't they all paranoid delusional over Gina? She just shuts up and lets them run around in ever decreasing circles until they all disappear up their own fundamental orifices. Sublime doesn't do it justice.
ReplyDeleteobserva
Now that is what you call the "Ostrich syndrome", bury your head in the sand and hope it goes away. Shakes head in wonder that he has lasted this long.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you know about running a business?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Nothing!!
