Unfortunately, Abbott has recently said that he will not cut funding to ABC or SBS. Has he never heared the story of the Spartan boy who stole the fox?
On the other hand, I wager that tonight's ABC news, and especially the Monday night marathon Left-fest, will confirm that the Abbott Government is already an abysmal failure. Sneering and curled lips obligatory for the inevitable, 'We told you so.' The unbridled riot which is "Comedy" night on Wednesday, will further highlight the catastrophe. But as they say, 'Laughter is the best medicine.'
On Q&A, Joe Hockey answered "No" when Jones asked if cuts to ABC funding was planned. However, he went on to say that a new government would be moving to stop waste in the ABC, then: "...could we expect to find waste in your area, Tony?" wiped the grin off Snow Cone's face and no reply to the question.
I think we're going to find this to be a bitterly disappointing government. The Liberals these days are pitifully weak. They seem to be just as committed to socialism as Labor, they just want the change to happen slightly more slowly.
The good news is that we now have clear evidence that minor parties (other than the lunatic Greens) do have a genuine chance of being elected to both houses. The hope for the future is that a coherent and genuinely conservative alternative will emerge. If nutters like Palmer can do so well there is clearly a massive amount of disillusion with both major parties out there. All it needs is for someone more focused and more coherent than Palmer to come along.
There is no hope with the Liberals unless they can be put under pressure by the threat of minor parties and forced to bite the bullet on crucial issues. Like the defunding of the ABC, and the abolition of the Department of Climate Change.
But PLEASE can we keep the kids' shows...great for babysitting the grandchildren. Although, at times, it is hard to pick the difference between ABC news and current affairs and the cartoons.

Methinks there will be a rethink on ABC SBS, he may not cut funding but may decide what they get can be better spent.

ReplyDelete"I wanna do you slowly..."
we need to put pressure on to defund the ABC.
ReplyDeleteIt is not likely to happen unless we protest about their bias.
