Sic transit gloria, Butch

Once, long ago, he used to be someone.

Now the only place he can get a gig is the Silly Moaning Herald.

Fish follow much the same career trajectory, starting life all bright and shiny but ending up as  malodorous lumps in the cat-litter box.

Not to worry. It won't be long now until the big clean-up.

  1. He used to boast flippantly of having Asian girls for the night.

    1. We have confirmation they were actually ...girls... right?

    2. I've got a pretty good idea of this galah's career but I've never heard that one (mind you, when I last read and heard him it was another century).

When a bloke in his age group uses stuff like that to talk himself up it doesn't go over real well - not with the decent men around - and they fairly smartly distance themselves.

It's the mark of a man with a horribly distorted perspective on life.

Carlton, Bob Ellis without the prose.

  3. What an absolute tosser! Carlton is just a horrible individual with no sense of decency.

  4. If a News Ltd journo wrote the way he does, he would be leading the charge to get them sacked.

    Carlton is simply a hypocrite.

  5. Bunyip, I don't think you mean "malodourous remains in the cat litter box" so much as you mean "over-hyped, under-sold, Fitzsimons-introduced books that, like their subject, sank without trace."

    1. That book was unreadable. Apparently he is writing another one. Is his publisher on acid?

  6. My stars, what is going on with Mike Carlton's hair? You can't tell me it's just wet.

The full phrase is "sic transit gloria mundi".

Usually translated as "Gloria felt ill in the bus on the first day of the week".
