TREMENDOUS excitement in Perth right this minute, where the grand final of the Australian baseball season is tied up. Last night's game went to innings 13 and tonight's could do the same. Even if you don't understand all the rules, which is certainly the case at the Billaong, it is edge of the seat viewing..
The game is on FoxSports.
Go, Melbourne!
UPDATE UPDATE: ...and go they did, until gone altogether. Perth wins on a pitcher's mistake.

Three cheers for the Hesperians.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry Professor, but if we don't win the AFL grand-final, we extract revenge through other sports.
Today baseball, tomorrow squid bobbing.
Next week, dwarf throwing.
A pitcher's mistake ?
ReplyDeleteIsn't this the point where Lucy yells, "Charlie Brown, you blockhead!"
I admit to spending way too much time in front of the boob tube, but baseball? That's going too far. But I did watch an innings of the previous game - they were up to the 11th at that stage. One fellow in the crowd caught a foul ball and proceeded to keep the actual ball. Now, that's not cricket.

ReplyDeleteBut it is baseball, according to the injunction that if it's not cricket, it's baseball.
Cheers
AR, something I read that an Englishman, now living in the U.S., wrote:
