Good Beat And You Can Dance To It

COULDN'T let St Patrick's Day pass without a nod to the nice variety of green, and what finer tribute than a Funky Ceili

Unfortunately the video ends about 30 seconds before the song, but the full version, minus visuals, can be found here.

A favourite at the Billabong, Black 47 also do a ripper version of Like A Rolling Stone, which is available here as a download. Livin' In America is pretty good, too.

Breaking News on St. Patrick though, Prof. Seems there's a theory he was a trying to avoid being a Roman Decurion tax collector like his dad, so took up transfering the more liquid part of dad's assets, i.e. the slaves, to Ireland for sale. Reported on Yahoo today from special St. Pat's Day piece by Roy Fletchner, Dept. of Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic (interesting amalgamation, eh?) at Cambridge University. So St. Pat's 'Confessio' was merely a sort of plea-bargain in response to accusations that he'd fled for financial gain.

I've always thought myself the original St. Pat story was a bit Irish.

Today's useful robot word is expati, which seems quite appropriate, and self-explanatory.

    1. Lizzie! Next you'll me telling me he didn't drive out the snakes and the Book of Kells was done with Textas. They should just leave St Paddy alone, especially today.

Natch Prof I've zipped my lip at home. We are all a-wearin' of the green and sing of sending off the Saxons around here today. There has been merriment and noise into the night.

  2. Prof:

You realize the tenements in the vid at the bottom are worth a small fortune now and the fashionistas live there. Funny old world, hey?

  3. I am 3/8ths Irish. That music is shite. All(99%)Irish music is shite. I love the Irish and what they did for making this nation. Egalitarianism!

  4. Ugh, the Irish that came to America, is there a bigger bunch of whiners? They've been truly sucessful, running things in cities like New York, Chicago, and Boston. And what do they do? Wah, wah, wah, potato famine this, black and tans that, wah, wah, wah. Jay-zus, put a sock in it boy-o, that was like 100 years, 150 years ago. And it wasn't like the Irish treated anyone who wasn't Irish very good when the Irish finally ran things. (Ask the black kids forced to go to South Boston High School in the late 1970's.)

I'll still go out and celebrate tonight, though. Cheap beer and the full Irish (corned beef and cabbage) for dinner at my neighborhood tavern.
